GRADE 6

WHAT ARE WE UP TO???

In Spart we have begun preparing for the Live Wax Museum this Spring. Our theme will be figures from Spanish speaking countries. The first step is to pick a subject. To help in this task we have examined several websites using the Smartboard. We want to choose people, living or dead, who have made significant contributions to society and that share our school Catholic identity.

This project will have several cross-curricular connections such as ELA, Art, Spanish, and Technology. This means that we will be working on the LWM in different classes and with different teachers.

Other components of the LWM are: costume, props, and presentation board. The presentation board will be provided in school for a nominal fee.

On the internet we have also looked at many different Wax Museums from schools around the country. Together we have examined what works and what doesn’t work. So far we have looked at the project in general terms and at this point everyone should have a very clear idea of what the LWM is.

Specific expectations of each part of the project will be distributed in class as we cover each part. Don’t worry, all questions and concerns will be addressed. However, it is your job to take notes when needed and to ask for clarification when necessary.

I know that if everyone does his or her part this will be our best LWM yet!
