Principal’s Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

We are busily gearing up for the Christmas season. I want to brief you about the remaining two weeks of the calendar year, along with sharing some news regarding calendar changes due to Hurricane Sandy.

REPORT CARD CONFERENCES – Friday, December 14 1-3 PM; 5:30-7:30 PM (Both Campuses)

Report cards will be distributed to parents who have paid at least three tuition installments and turned in the mandatory candy sale money. If your child is in grades 3-8, you must bring the child with you to the report card conference. If you are not able to attend on Friday, the homeroom teacher will contact you to schedule a conference in early January.

BREAKFAST WITH SANTA

Santa will be visiting the two OLCA campuses on different days, due to his busy schedule. He is coming with toys and he is providing breakfast to the boys and girls who will visit with him that day. This year, Santa has asked to see all of our boys and girls, from Nursery to Eighth Grade. He will be arriving at 8:30 next Monday at 128th Street and next Wednesday at Rockaway Boulevard. He would love to see parents too, and he’s allowing you to bring your cameras. Thanks to Santa’s generosity, this event is free!

CHRISTMAS SHOWS

Tickets will go on sale for our Christmas Shows this week. The cost will be $5 in advance, $8 at the door. Please buy tickets early, especially for the Rockaway Boulevard campus, as seating is limited. Please check your child’s folder for the order form tomorrow.

REVISED CALENDAR

A new yearly calendar has been produced which reflects the following changes due to Hurricane Sandy:

  • School will be OPEN on April 3,4, 5 and May 9
  • Several “Half-days” will now be full days: February 1, April 12, May 3, June 13, June 14, and June 15

You can view the calendar here: English School Calendar 2012-2013 REVISED

Thank for your cooperation and understanding throughout this transitional year. It’s certainly been more eventful than we expected, thanks to mother Nature. But we enter the Christmas season stronger than ever, thanks to all of you.

Sincerely,

Kevin John Coyne Marian Hernandez
