Dear Parents and Guardians,

The devastation of Hurricane Sandy has made a big impact on our school community. We are already aware of many families and staff members who have suffered losses during this disaster.

We are coming together to help in any way that we can. One way we are doing this is collecting necessary goods that can be distributed to the OLCA community members impacted by this storm. If your family has been impacted, please contact us immediately, and we will include you in the distribution of collected items.

We will also be collecting school supplies for Saint Rose of Lima in Rockaway Beach, which suffered significant damages from flooding. Below is a list of the items that we are collecting. They can be dropped off in the auditorium of either campus:

Needed for OLCA Families and Staff Members:

- Winter Clothes - Cleaning Supplies - Diapers/Pull-Ups

- Canned Food - Dry Food - Blankets

- Hygiene Products - Phone Cards - Metrocards

Needed for Saint Rose of Lima:

- Pens/Pencils/Notebooks/Crayons/Colored Pencils

- Early Childhood Toys/Furniture/Games/Puzzles

- Hand Sanitizer/Wipes

- Children’s Books

- Construction Paper/Folders

I know that our community will do everything they can to help.

As noted on the website, school pictures will be rescheduled for a later date. Also, we are in the process of repairing the boiler at 128th street. The heat should be fully working by the end of the day today, but please send children with extra sweaters/hoodies/sweatshirts if needed. Also, students may wear the gym uniform for the remainder of the week.

We have also rescheduled some other October and November events. Please refer to the new calendar which has gone home today.

Sincerely in Christ,

Mr. Kevin Coyne

Principal
