Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we enter the Thanksgiving season, we have plenty to be grateful for. Let me update you on some happenings at OLCA.

Hurricane Sandy Relief Efforts

As always, the OLCA community has been generous with their time and talents, and have donated many supplies to ongoing relief efforts. Please continue to drop off donations, and we will pass them on to families in need. If your family has been impacted by the storm and needs any assistance, please contact the school office and we will do our best to help.

Calendar Changes

Due to the impact of Hurricane Sandy, we have extended the first trimester, which will now end on December 7. Report cards will now be distributed on Friday, December 14. We have rescheduled school pictures for next month as well. A December calendar will be distributed before the Thanksgiving holiday.

Candy Sale

Our big fall fundraiser is coming to an end. If you are still interested in selling candy, please request additional boxes by Wednesday, November 28. Winners will be announced at the Christmas Show next month!

School Jackets

OLCA school jackets have arrived! If your balance was paid in full, you should have received your jacket already. If you still owe a balance, please visit your campus office or send payment in with your child.

Thanksgiving Luncheon

This Monday, we have our annual Thanksgiving luncheon. All students may dress up for free, and parent volunteers are welcome. Please refer to the handbook for dress up guidelines. If you are bringing in food that needs to be heated, please drop it off as early as possible. We are so grateful to the parents who have been able to donate food or funds to purchase food!

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, I want to express my deepest gratitude to the OLCA school community. The faculty and staff, along with Mrs. Hernandez, have worked so hard for the benefit of the children in our care. Parents have been incredibly supportive, and I appreciate that concerns are brought to our attention so we can make improvements and changes where necessary.

Most importantly, I want to thank the army of parent volunteers who always seem to be there when we need them the most, helping us in the classrooms, the office, the lunchroom, and even building relationships with outside businesses and organizations on our behalf. We are a better school because of their dedication and service.
