Here are some reminders and updates.
Option C Parent Alert System
This year, we have moved away from newsletters like this one and we are using the Option C Parent Alert System for timely reminders and necessary information. Parent response to this has been very positive so far. If you have not been receiving the e-mails and occasional cell phone texts, please call our office immediately at (718) 641-1316 and ask for Mrs. Natalie Gilbert. She will update your alert preferences to keep you in the loop.
OLCA Gives Back
Thank you for the outstanding participation in this year’s OLCA Gives Back weeklong charity dress down. It always warms our hearts to see the generosity of our community!
Registration and Scholarships for 2018-2019
Registration for next year is already underway. For the first time, you can re-register online through the Option C parent portal, in addition to the traditional paper registration. Your registration fee saves your seat for 2018-2019, and your registration is considered complete once all 2017-2018 fees, the 2018-209 material fee, and the August 2018 tuition payment are paid in full.
The most important deadline coming up is for current families who have scholarships. The deadline for renewing those scholarships is March 31, 2018. All families, with or without scholarships this year, can apply online at www.futuresineducation.org .
Ash Wednesday School Liturgy
Wednesday, February 14: 10:00 AM
Saint Teresa of Avila Church
There will be a school liturgy on Ash Wednesday this year, which marks the beginning of the season of Lent. Grades Kindergarten through Eight will attend. Father Conlon will visit the academy after the liturgy to give ashes to our Nursery and Pre-Kindergarten students.
Progress Reports (Grades 1-8)
Monday, February 12
On Monday, February 12, progress reports will be distributed to Grades 1-8. This is the most important progress report of the year, as it represents the midpoint of the academic calendar. Students who are in danger of repeating a grade, attending summer school, and/or losing their seat at Our Lady’s Catholic Academy due to conduct will receive notice on this progress report. Please look for this report to be stapled into your child’s Good News Planner and return it the following day with your signature. We recommend taking a picture of the report for your records before returning it.
Home Academy Association Meeting
Thursday, February 15: 6 PM
We will have an important Home Academy Association meeting next week. The agenda will include, but not be limited to, the following items:
- Handbook Revisions for 2018-2019
- Mandatory Fundraising Requirements for 2018-2019
- Officer Nominations for 2018-2019
Previous meetings have resulted in policy changes based on parent input. This academy belongs to the students and their families. Please come and have your voices heard.
