Important High School Information 3.23.2020

Starting today, families can do the following in MySchools (myschools.nyc):

·        See the waitlists that their child is on and their position on each waitlist. .

·        Add their child to additional waitlists.

·        Accept or decline a waitlist offer if they receive one.

·        Accept or decline a Specialized High School offer. Like previous years, this is only relevant for students who received an offer from their application and an offer to a Specialized High School; students with one admissions offer are defaulted to accept that offer.

Reminders:

·        Families can get their high school offer letters online in MySchools (myschools.nyc), which includes results from the high school application and any Specialized HS admissions results, if applicable.

·        Like previous years, offer letters include the results from the student’s high school application and the results from the Specialized High Schools admissions processes, if applicable (both the Specialized High Schools Admissions Test and LaGuardia High School auditions). 

·        Families who have an account in MySchools can easily re-set their password if they are having trouble logging in. They can re-set their password themselves on the login page: https://www.myschools.nyc/en/account/log-in/

·        Families who do not have an account in MySchools can still create one. Here are your class times:

8-1 & 8-2 will meet together with Ms. Benkert and me from 10:15-11:15 every TUESDAY & THURSDAY.

I’ll meet 7-1 every TUESDAY & THURSDAY 1:00-1:30

I’ll meet 7-2 every TUESDAY & THURSDAY 1:40-2:10

 

Each day you will receive a Do Now question. This will count as your attendance. The Do Now must be completed by 11 am. No Exceptions!

You will be required to reply to TWO different classmates’ posts and voice your opinion on their response. You must agree or disagree with their response and provide evidence to support why you agree or disagree with their post. You have until 3 pm to respond. No Exceptions!

There will be days when notes will be given. A hard copy of the notes will be posted as well as a video of me describing the notes. You will be required to read through the notes and watch the video. Any questions you have on the topic at hand you may e-mail me or post it here. I will respond once I see it.

Lastly, there will be daily assignments in which you will need to complete and submit by 3 pm. No exceptions! If for whatever reason you can’t upload the assignment here you may also e-mail me. However, always try to post the homework here first.

Any other questions don’t hesitate to e-mail me. We are going to make this work during this tough time.

Link to the New York State Science Exams: Test is taken end of May and the beginning of June. Be sure to check out the old tests. Tests from 2012 on are more common core aligned. I would focus on them.

  2. Describe buying on margin. How did this contribute to the stock market crash?
  3. Who was the president during the stock market crash.
  4. Was the stock market crash preventable? How do you know? Provide examples.

1-2 page writing on the American Revolution. Be sure to include how the war began, all countries involved, the turning point of the war, the treaty which ended the war, territories gained from the war, implications on the world. I want to see more added these topics can help you get started.
