Leadership Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

Welcome back! Our first few days as a community brought together as one have been exciting and challenging. We thank you so much for your support, cooperation, and most importantly, your feedback on how we can keep improving our services to best meet the needs of your children.  Here are some important updates and upcoming events:

Early Drop-Off and After School Programs

To better meet the needs of our parents, the hours of both our Early Drop-Off Program and After School Program have been extended. The Early Drop-Off Program now begins at 6:00 AM and remains a free program. Please bring your children to the 130th Street Auditorium entrance. This program is available every day that our school is open this year, including the first day.

Our After School Program begins today, and it now ends at 7 PM. As always, it includes a snack and homework help. Registration forms were provided on the first day of school in your childs OLCA folder. This is a prepaid program, and you may pay on a monthly, weekly, or daily basis, whichever is most convenient for you.

Transportation Update

We continue to work with the Department of Transportation to approve more bus stops for our students. The process has been slow and frustrating for us, and even more so for the parents affected by it. Families still waiting for bus service may keep their children in the After School Program for free until their stops are approved!

Early Childhood Center Update

Construction and improvements are ongoing for our Early Childhood Center, as we make adjustments to best utilize this space for our youngest OLCA students. It is a work in progress, and we thank you for your suggestions and your patience as we continue to upgrade this new facility.

Back to School Night: Wednesday, September 13

6:30 PM ? 8:00 PM

Please come to our Back to School Night this Wednesday! It will begin with a brief presentation from the principal, followed by individual presentations in the classrooms by your childrens teachers. Our junior high (Gr. 6-8) will meet with parents in the auditorium!

NYC Free Lunch Program

Finally, we are working with the Office of the Superintendent to bring city lunch to OLCA for all students. The process may take as long as three months, but it is underway!

Have a great rest of the week!

Sincerely in Christ,

Mr. Kevin John Coyne          Mrs. Debra Eisenbraun
