Christmas Newsletter

Dear Parents and Guardians,

As we prepare for Christmas and the birth of Jesus, we are also closing out the calendar year and making plans for 2018. Here are some important updates and announcements as we head into Christmas Recess, including some important calendar changes.

Confessions (Grades 4-8)

Breakfast with Santa (Grades N-8)

FREE DRESS UP

Wednesday, December 20

Tomorrow, our Catholic students in Grades 4-8 will receive the Sacrament of Confession. This will be done shortly after they participate in Breakfast with Santa, which will include a free breakfast and gift for all students in all grades. This is a free dress up day. Also, parents are welcome to take pictures.

½ Day Dismissal, No After School

FREE DRESS DOWN

Thursday, December 21

Because Confessions have moved to an earlier date, Thursday, December 21 will now be a free dress down. Classroom celebrations are permitted on this day. We will have a ½ day dismissal and there will be no after school. After dismissal, Christmas Recess begins, with classes resuming at regular time on Tuesday, January 2, 2018.

Home Academy Association

Playground Fundraiser

January 2018

The Home Academy Association will have a gourmet coffee and tea sale next month, beginning the week of January 22. All profits raised from this fundraiser will go toward renovations of our lower playground. If you are interested in assisting with this fundraiser, please contact Jemma Mohess (jemma.mohess@yahoo.com.)

2018-2019 Registration & Scholarship Applications

Re-registration for the 2018-2019 school year will commence on Monday, January 29, 2018. But you don’t have to wait until then to apply for scholarships for next year. The application portal for 2018-2019 scholarships will open on Monday, January 15. A separate flyer will go home today with more information about the scholarship process for next year.

Tuition & Fees Reminder

Today, letters have gone home to families with an outstanding balance, all of which must be resolved by Tuesday, January 2, 2018. If you have any questions about your balance, please contact Mrs. Ciriaco or Ms. Roberts at (718) 641-1316.  Beginning February 2018, a new company  – FACTS Tuition Management – will handle billing for Our Lady’s Catholic Academy. Please look for more information about this change in the new year.

As we note every year, the biggest Christmas blessing in our lives in the privilege to serve the Our Lady’s Catholic Academy community. We thank all of our faculty, staff, parents, and students for a wonderful 2017, and look forward to a healthy and happy 2018 for all of us.

Sincerely in Christ,
