Principal’s Newsletter

Our Lady's Catholic AcademyDear Parents and Guardians,

I hope that all of you are faring well. Here are the latest events and updates at Our Lady’s Catholic Academy.

Report Cards

Thank you to all of the parents who were able to make it to Report Card conferences last week. If you were not able to make it, you can pick up your child’s report card from your campus office at your convenience. Please note that the report cards will not be released to the students. A parent or guardian must come to pick it up!

Flu Season & Immunizations

Please see the flyer that went home today. It details how to prevent the flu, which has been particularly severe this year at Our Lady’s Catholic Academy. Please also make sure that your child’s immunizations are up to date. Almost all of our students are current, but the office is reaching out to the few that still need a handful of immunizations. Attending OLCA requires keeping these current for the safety and well-being of all of our students.

Calendar Changes

Our unexpected snow day on March 14 has resulted in a few more calendar changes. As you will see on the April calendar that went home today, our Monthly Liturgy will now be Tuesday, April 4, which moves our Honors Assembly at 128 St. to Wednesday, April 5.  Spring Pictures will now be Tuesday, April 25 at RB, and Wednesday, April 26 at 128 St. Finally, our Volunteer Luncheons will be on Thursday, April 27 at Rockaway Boulevard, and Friday, April 28 at 128 St.

The Girl Scouts are Coming to OLCA!

Friday, April 28 at 6:00 PM (128 St.)

I am excited to announce that Amanda Reyes from the Girl Scouts of Greater NY will be coming to OLCA on Friday, April 28 at 6 PM. The meeting will be held at the 128 St. Campus, where parents can sign up their daughters. Parent volunteers are crucial to making the Girl Scouts a success at OLCA, so we hope for a huge turnout at this meeting! If the meeting goes well, we can start a program during after school hours. A big thank you to OLCA Parent and School Nurse, Mrs. Roxanna Conyers, who is also a proud Girl Scout Troop Leader. Her organization of this event has made the Girl Scouts at OLCA a possibility!

NYS Testing Reminders

As state testing began today, a friendly reminder that these tests are used to help us better instruct the students. We ask that all of the students come to school well-rested and do their very best. As with Terra Nova testing in the fall, the data is not used as part of report card grades or when determining promotion to the next grade.

Sincerely in Christ,

Kevin John Coyne
